Navigating mental health support can be overwhelming, especially for students who do not see themselves reflected in the services offered. Saving Space understands this challenge and works to bridge the gap between students and accessible, culturally competent care. Our advocacy and resource navigation service helps Black male students identify what kind of support they need and where to find it. We collaborate closely with university counseling centers, local mental health professionals, and student organizations to maintain an up-to-date network of trusted services. This includes both on-campus and off-campus options, ensuring that students are aware of all available resources.
Our team offers direct guidance when needed, whether that means helping a student schedule an appointment, understand what to expect in therapy, or explore alternatives that suit their comfort level. The goal is to simplify the process and reduce the hesitation many students feel when seeking help. We do not assume that one approach works for all, which is why we focus on connecting students with services that reflect their identity, values, and lived experiences. Sometimes, a student may simply need reassurance that they are not alone in this journey. Other times, they may need hands-on assistance in managing their care. We are here for both. This service supports our belief that mental health care should not feel out of reach, complicated, or isolating. Through continued relationships with our partners, we help build systems where students feel seen and supported. Advocacy, in this case, means staying by their side as they take steps toward well-being. Our work does not replace professional care—it supports the path toward it, offering guidance at every step. In doing so, we hope to lessen the fear, reduce the stigma, and help students build trust in the support systems around them. For many, knowing someone is willing to walk with them makes all the difference.
Whether you're a student, partner, or supporter, we’d love to hear from you.
